Details:

Just two years into the construction of Boscobel, ice cream was served at the White House for the very first time. Back in 1806, popular flavors included apricot, parmesan, and oyster.

On Saturday, June 30 (raindate July 1), Boscobel will carry on this tradition by hosting our first-ever Ice Cream Social on the Great Lawn. Enjoy one of the most beautiful views in the Hudson River Valley while celebrating this classic sweet treat in flavors both familiar and unusual.

Jane’s Ice Cream will provide the timeless flavors of vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry as well as lavender and ginger. You will also have the opportunity to taste test Ice Creamed Oyster, a delicacy that was popular at functions hosted by presidents George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, along with First Lady Dolley Madison.

Throughout the event, family-friendly Colonial-era lawn games will be available, and the Historic House Museum will be open for you to explore at your own pace and direction, with expert guides stationed to offer insight and information.

Day-of tickets may be purchased in the Visitor Center.
