Big Band Concert & Sunset Picnic
Celebrate the first days of fall on Boscobel’s lawn overlooking the majestic Hudson River. Bring a picnic supper, listen and dance as the orchestra recreates the swinging sounds of the big band era, performing classic jazz compositions including those made famous by Count Basie, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, and Harry James. The Big Band Sound is a 20-piece jazz band.

Apple Shindig

Apple Shindig: A Community Potluck Supper
Join us to celebrate October’s bountiful harvest of apples from Boscobel’s orchard! There is a potluck supper, music, a candlelight blessing of the orchards and a contest to determine the finest apple dishes, both savory and sweet. Please bring a side dish that serves six to share. Ham, turkey, wine and a special dessert using Boscobel apples will be provided. Your favorite apple dish to be judged is optional.
Sponsored by the Friends of Boscobel and open to all. Space is Limited. Reservations required. $25.00/person

Horse and Carriage Day
Come to Boscobel and see first-hand the kinds of horse-drawn transportation that abounded in the early part of the nineteenth century. Members of the Mid-Hudson Driving Association will be present to show off their horses and vehicles. There will be a narrated parade of the horse drawn vehicles beginning at 1:00 p.m., to be followed by competitive events highlighting the skill of both horse and driver. There will also be horse-drawn wagon rides around the property from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. especially for families to enjoy.

Astronomy Delight! and Boscobel are pleased to invite you to come listen to an informative and entertaining lecture on the Orionid & Taurid Meteor Showers and an overview of their relationship to planet earth. Join us on the front lawn overlooking the majestic Hudson to observe the planets, the stars and night skies through large telescopes! Outdoor event; please dress accordingly.

The Gentle Art of Silhouettes
A beautiful 19th century art form, silhouettes served a genuine need by memorializing family and friends before the use of cameras. Boscobel is pleased to welcome back Deborah O’Connor, a silhouette artist with over 25 years experience who is dedicated to preserving this vanishing art form. Watch Deborah as she skillfully cuts portraits of your family and pets. Just in time for creating your holiday cards!

The Haunted Hudson: Ghost Stories!
Is there a ghost in Boscobel house? Join us for a spooky evening of true ghost stories, told by author and renowned paranormal investigator, Linda Zimmermann. Linda personally investigates and uncovers startling evidence of the existence of ghosts throughout the tri-state area including the Hudson Valley, which she presents in a lively and fascinating style. Her most recent book “Ghost Investigator Volume 8” will be available for sale and signing. (Parents: this lecture may not be appropriate for children under 10 since it involves potentially frightening paranormal material.) Space is limited.
