The Barnabas McHenry
Hudson River Valley Award

Boscobel is pleased to introduce Michael Diaz, a 2007 recipient of the Barnabas McHenry Hudson River Valley Award a program of the Open Space Institute (www.osiny.org). Michael has completed internships at the Hudson River Valley Institute (HRVI) at Marist College, from which he graduated as a history major with a public history concentration. He has served as a museum guide, assistant archivist and historic interpreter at several locations in the Hudson River Valley and is a member of the History Honor Society, Phi Alpha Theta.

The purpose of the McHenry OSI award program is to provide financial assistance to promising young leaders and for exemplary projects in three areas: environmental protection, historic preservation and the arts – in the Hudson River Valley.

During his year long internship at Boscobel, Michael will conduct research related to the Loyalists of the Hudson River Valley, including Boscobel’s originator, States Morris Dyckman. Loyalists, also know as Tories, remained loyal to the crown during the Revolutionary War.
